Antonio Galloni Ratings – Anfiteatro, Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva

10 January 2018

Antonio Galloni ratings for Vecchie Terre di Montefili wines:

Anfiteatro 2013 – 95 pts: “The 2013 Anfiteatro, the estate’s top selection of Sangiovese, is rich, deep and concentrated, with more emphasis on body and texture than aromatics. I suspect those nuances will develop with more time in bottle. Today, the 2013 is dense, packed and quite closed in on itself. Even so, its pedigree and potential are evident”.

Chianti Classico Riserva 2013 – 94 pts: “The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva is fabulous. Deep, rich and explosive, it covers every corner of the palate with intense fruit. Super expressive aromatics continue to soar out of the glass with time. Best of all, the 2013 won’t need more than a few years to be at its best. Stated simply, this is a wine of real pedigree and class. Don’t miss it.

Chianti Classico 2014 – 90 pts: “The 2014 Chianti Classico is a powerful wine with eccentric overtones. Sage, mint and lavender notes give the wine a distinctive exotic personality. Readers should expect a somewhat wild, unrestrained expression of Sangiovese. Even so, the 2014 shows impressive depth, especially within the context of the vintage”
